Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations

9th June 2016

We had a fantastic day last Thursday (9th June) celebrating the Queen’s 90th Birthday. Children dressed up for the occasion and the sun shone for us and we had a full day of activities linked to the Queen’s life. The day started with a whole school assembly to introduce the significance of the day. Children then completed different activities in their classrooms throughout the morning including cake decorating, making birthday cards, decorating of bunting and writing newspaper reports.

The School Field was transformed for the day and the afternoon was spent outside enjoying a range of traditional games which the Queen might have enjoyed when she was young. We also invited some VIP guests from the village into school to judge our ‘Bake Off’ and Cake Decorating Competitions. We were blown away by the quality of the entrants and the only disappointment was that we could only have 4 winners!
